Australia to block 10 unlicensed gambling sites

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has ordered the blocking of 10 online gambling websites for operating illegally.

Australia.- The ACMA has announced it will ask Australian Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to block 10 gaming sites.

The offshore gambling sites listed are: Croco, Aussie Play, Golden Reels, All Spins Win, Bonza Spins, Pokie Spins, Golden Pokies, House of Pokies, Pokie Mate and PokieZ.

The ACMA started investigating the sites after receiving several complaints from consumers. It ruled that all of the sites were in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

A total of 238 illegal gambling websites have been blocked in Australia since November 2019.

Some 130 illegal services have pulled out of the country’s market since the ACMA began to enforce new illegal offshore gambling rules in 2017.

Last month the ACMA also announced the blocking of another 18 offshore unlicensed gambling websites.

How to protect yourself from illegal gambling operators

According to the ACMA, illegal online services include slots (pokies), casino-style games (like poker, blackjack and roulette), scratchies, in-play betting on sporting events and betting and lottery services that are not licensed in Australia.

Before betting, it recommends checking its list of blocked gambling websites. Customers are asked to lodge complaints if they believe a website is offering gambling services illegally.
