Andhra Pradesh blocks 132 apps and websites
Brands including Paytm First Game, Mobile Premier League and Adda52 are affected.
India.- The state of Andhra Pradesh has taken further action in its ban on online gambling and ordered that access be blocked to 132 websites and apps.
The list includes brands such as Paytm First Game, Mobile Premier League and Adda52, but does not include Dream11, which is the main sponsor of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.
Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy listed the sites to be blocked in a letter to IT and telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. He said the action was taken to protect young people from the “severe social evil” of gambling and betting.
Since the amendment of the AP Gaming Act 1974, online gaming is considered an offence in Andhra Pradesh.
The minister said gaming had led to addiction, violence and even suicides due to people losing money.
