AGEM Index edges down 0.9% in January amid mixed supplier performance

Despite a monthly decline, the index remains more than 11 per cent higher year-on-year.

Asia.- The Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers (AGEM) Index slipped slightly in January, falling by 15.69 points to 1,815.99. That’s a 0.9 per cent decrease compared with December, but the index closed the month 11.4 per cent higher year-on-year, 185.99 points above its January 2025 level.

Six of the ten companies on the index saw share price declines during the month, resulting in six negative and four positive contributions to the overall index performance. The largest negative contributor was Aristocrat Leisure Limited, whose share price fell by 7.9 per cent, reducing the index by 53.41 points. Agilysys also weighed on the monthly result as its stock price declining 27.0 per cent, translating into a 20.53-point loss.

On the positive side, Konami Corp. was the strongest contributor to the index. The company’s 5.3 per cent increase in share price added 40.64 points.

Broader financial markets saw gains in January. All three major US stock indices grew, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising by 1.7 per cent, the S&P 500 by 1.4 per cent and the NASDAQ by 0.9 per cent compared with the previous month.
