Sports betting legislation progress in Arizona
House Rules Committee votes 5-3 in favour of sports betting bill which now heads to the House for another vote.
US.- Legal sports betting is progressing in Arizona after the House Rules Committee approved a Bill that would legalise and regulate the sector for the first time.
The Committee voted 5-3 in favour of HB 2813, which has now been sent to the House floor for the next round of voting.
The Bill would allow local casinos to operate sport books but it would not permit them to offer mobile wagering.
This could limit the revenues generated from sports betting – in New York where mobile betting is not permitted, the state’s four licensed sports book operators posted a $174,500 loss in February.
The Bill, if passed into law, would allow both commercial and tribal gambling operators to offer sports betting, but this has caused friction with the tribes who want to be able to offer sports betting without a licence.
