Arizona shuts down illegal gambling operation

The gaming regulator conducted a search warrant on a sports bar and seized illegal devices.

US.- The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) has announced that it has shut down an alleged illegal gambling operation in the north of Phoenix. The agents seized illegal gambling devices and money after the search.

Officers from Arizona’s Department of Liquor and Attorney General’s Office and the Phoenix Police Department conducted a search warrant on a sports bar, Toso’s Sports Bar & Grill and Real Poker LLC, AZFamily.com reported. The warrant is the result of a seven-month long investigation from ADG, and the people detained could face felony charges from this discovery.

“We take our responsibilities of protecting the public, regulating the gaming industry and ensuring compliance with the Arizona Tribal-State Gaming Compacts seriously,” said James Ashley, Interim Director, ADG. “Business owners who participate in illegal gambling operations on their premises are subject to criminal investigation and risk forfeiture of their liquor and other business licences.”
