Arizona Department of Gaming to open application window for limited sports betting licences
There are 10 licences available to offer retail sports betting at racetrack enclosures and associated off-track betting locations.
US.- The Arizona Department of Gaming has announced that it will open an application window for limited event wagering operator licences beginning on August 13. Up to ten licences will be available with applications to be made during a two-week application window closing on August 27 at 5pm Arizona Time.
Limited licences authorise retail sports betting at racetrack enclosures and associated off-track betting locations. Operators must partner with facilities permitted by the Division of Racing and obtain department authorisation before commencing operations. Licences renew every two years.
This category is separate from existing tribal and commercial operator licences, for which an application window closed earlier this month. The state also has allocations for professional sports teams, PGA Tour operators, NASCAR promoters and Arizona Indian Tribes.
Applicants must pay a $1,000 submission fee for applications. Those that are successful will pay a $10,000 licence fee and $5,000 annually. Retail betting licensees are taxed at 8 per cent of revenue, compared to 10 per cent for online sports betting.
