After taking the SCG to court, Bet365 returns to Bulgaria
The country’s State Commission on Gambling had no choice but to grant the British operator an online sports betting license.
Bulgaria.- Bet365 is ready to re-enter the Bulgarian gambling market after the country’s State Commission on Gambling (SCG) was forced to grant the British operator an online sports betting license.
Bet 365 was one of the first operators to be added on Bulgaria’s online gambling blacklist as the country pushed for heavier regulation, but was granted a license last year. The license was withdrawn shortly after, with neither Bet365 nor the SCG revealing the reason behind this decision.
In response, Bet365 took the SCG to court and the Sofia Administrative Court ruled in favour of the operator, with the regulator complying and issuing a new license.
In Bulgaria there are currently 10 licensed operators offering online betting services, including Betfair and PokerStars.
