Zambia game developers come together to grow the local industry
Chroma Pixel Games and Esports Federation of Zambia bring creators together to boost the country’s gaming future.
Zambia.- Zambia is emerging as one of Africa’s fastest-growing gaming hubs, with the recent Game Developers Connect highlighting the country’s rising influence in the industry. The event, supported by the Esports Federation of Zambia, showcased local talent and brought attention to opportunities for developers, designers and artists across the nation.
Chroma Pixel Games, a pioneering Zambian game studio, hosted Game Developers Connect – Lusaka Edition on September 13 at its main studio. The gathering drew developers, designers, artists and writers to the city of Lusaka for a full day of workshops, networking and mentorship aimed at fostering collaboration and growth in the local gaming scene.
Organisers of Game Developers Connect said: “This Saturday at Chroma Pixel Games HQ, our community of developers, artists, designers and writers came together to connect, collaborate and grow. The session was filled with creativity, collaboration, innovation and mentorship.”

Organised in partnership with Video Game Industry Zambia (VGI), the gathering featured workshops, brainstorming sessions and practical guidance for both newcomers and experienced developers. Attendees exchanged ideas, explored opportunities to work together and supported charitable initiatives through an optional K20 entry fee.
Across Africa, countries like Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Benin are experiencing similar momentum as local studios tell authentic African stories through games. Zambia is now firmly part of this movement, proving it has the talent and drive to compete globally.
