The inaugural SportsBiz Cup and Forum highlight Africa\u2019s rising esports talent and the continent\u2019s booming gaming industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Rwanda.- Rwanda<\/strong> firmly positioned itself on the map of African esports<\/strong> by hosting the first SportsBiz Africa Esports (SBA) Cup <\/strong>on September 7 and the SBA Forum 2025<\/strong> from September 9 to 10. The twin events showcased the country\u2019s rise as a hub for competitive gaming and highlighted Africa\u2019s growing potential to compete on the global stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Africa\u2019s gaming market is booming, projected to hit $2.39bn in 2025<\/strong>, with forecasts suggesting it could surpass $4bn by 2030<\/strong>. The Cup and Forum in Kigali go beyond competition, setting the stage for a new era of esports<\/strong> across Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Esports Cup drew eight elite competitors<\/strong> from Rwanda, Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and South Sudan, battling it out in electrifying matches. South African standout Zaid April<\/strong> emerged victorious with a $2,500 prize<\/strong>. He said in a post: \u201cProud to have represented South Africa at the SportsBiz Africa Cup. This win is for all of us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shaping Africa\u2019s esports future<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The momentum continued with the forum\u2019s headline panel, \u201cEsports, Gaming and the Next Generation of Athletes<\/strong>\u201d. Organisers said: \u201cThe panel on Esports, Gaming & the Next Generation of Athletes spotlighted how digital sports<\/strong> are shaping Africa\u2019s future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panelists examined mobile gaming\u2019s explosive growth<\/strong>, infrastructure challenges and the vast career opportunities<\/strong> within esports, including streaming, event production and coaching. Collaboration between federations, developers and investors emerged as a key theme for cultivating talent<\/strong> across Africa, with Rwanda demonstrating what strategic hosting can achieve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christian Gakwaya<\/strong>, CEO of Rwanda Events, said: \u201cSBA2025 is not just about celebrating sport. It is about sparking partnerships, unlocking capital and unleashing the immense untapped potential of Africa\u2019s sports economy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
