South Africa.- Philippines-based DigiPlus Interactive Corp<\/strong> is gearing up to expand into South Africa’s regulated gaming market, with the company confirming that it has submitted applications for three licences to the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB)<\/strong>. The filings cover manufacturing, bookmaking and bookmaker premises as part of its broader international growth strategy.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company described South Africa as one of the most promising regulated gaming markets in the world and the WCGRB as a regulatory authority that appeals to international operators due to its “transparent regulatory processes and digital readiness”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commenting on the move, Eusebio Tanco<\/strong>, DigiPlus chairman, said: “The filing of our online gaming licence in South Africa marks another milestone in DigiPlus’ global growth journey, as we bring our proven track record of innovation, responsible gaming and player protection, together with our strength in localising games for diverse markets, to one of Africa’s most dynamic economies.”\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Philippines, DigiPlus is known for operating BingoPlus, ArenaPlus and GameZone platforms. Analysts have suggested that the South Africa application may be a response to increasing regulatory pressures on domestic online gambling in the Philippines and part of the group’s desire to diversify its revenue sources.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If approved, the new licences would allow DigiPlus to manufacture gaming equipment, run sportsbook operations and operate physical bookmaker premises in the Western Cape jurisdiction.

According to a SOFTSWISS report<\/a> released in July 2025<\/strong>, South Africa’s gambling market is on track to generate approximately \u20ac3.63bn<\/strong> in gross gambling revenue (GGR) by the end of 2025. The Western Cape, where DigiPlus aims to operate, holds the largest share of the South African gambling market at 49 per cent. Its gambling regulator, the WCGRB, is also considered as the most progressive provincial regulator<\/strong> in South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n
