With reports of illegal gambling operations in the country, the regulator hopes that by informing the public about legitimate options, it can starve the black market of business and protect the integrity of the gaming industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Malawi.- The Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority (MAGLA)<\/strong> has published the list of operators approved to offer online gaming, sports betting and lottery services within its jurisdiction. The regulator took the step to address the growing issue of unlicensed gaming operators in the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the list, only ten operators <\/strong>are currently permitted to offer sports betting in Malawi, including World Star Betting, Premier Bet Limited, Mobipay Limited, Supapesa Limited (Betyanga), Port Achia Trade Limited (888 Bets), Betika Limited, Golden Bay Limited (Betway), Kuwina Limited (Betpawa) and Moors World of Sports Limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the land-based casino category, the four recognised venues are Colony Club Casino Blantyre, Colony Club Casino Lilongwe, Casino Marina Lilongwe and Casino Marina Blantyre. Min Monte Gaming Limited and DBR International WAP Limited are listed as the only operators allowed to offer wide-area progressive gaming machines.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MAGLA divided lottery licences into two categories: National Lottery operators and Unspecified lottery operators<\/strong>. In the first category are Afrigaming International Limited, trading as Zonse Lotto, and Premier Lotto Limited, authorised to conduct national-level lottery games. The second category includes five companies; Mobipay Limited, Radio Entertainment Limited, London Winners Limited, Kemal Holdings Limited and Distribution of Wealth Limited.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With reports of illegal gambling operations in the country, the regulator hopes that by informing the public about legitimate options, it can starve the black market of business and protect the integrity of the gaming industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MAGLA urges the public to steer clear of unlicensed operators, citing risks such as unfair gaming practices, financial loss and lack of protection. In the release, the authority also warned that operating gambling services without authorisation is a punishable offence, and those found in breach will face the full force of the law.<\/p>\n\n\n
