Botswana.- The Gambling Authority<\/strong> has launched a nationwide campaign called \u201cMotshameko O Phepha\u201d<\/strong> to promote responsible gambling, expand industry oversight and offer stronger community support. The campaign was officially inaugurated on Monday, September 22, 2025<\/strong>, in Francistown<\/strong> by Hon. Tiroeaone Kealeboga Ntsima<\/strong>, Minister of Trade & Entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of the campaign is a mix of high-profile and locally rooted voices. Olympic medallist Nijel Amos<\/strong> was unveiled as the campaign\u2019s lead brand ambassador, and the Authority has also enlisted the help of popular social media personalities to help promote the initiative in neighbourhoods and online spaces. According to the organisers, the team\u2019s diverse mix of influencers will help them reach people of various ages and backgrounds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials emphasised that the effort is a meaningful initiative that extends beyond publicity. In his address at the launch, Minister Ntsima described the campaign as part of the government\u2019s push to balance the gambling sector\u2019s economic role with protections for families and young people. The initiative is conducted under the framework of environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles, pairing outreach initiatives with a strong emphasis on operator compliance.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practical support measures announced include a 24-hour toll-free helpline<\/strong> and digital platforms for counselling and real-time information. Campaign materials also outline a plan to take messages to hundreds of sites and community hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the campaign progresses to other towns, involving engagements with community leaders and operators, the Authority will monitor its reach and impact.<\/p>\n\n\n
