Rwanda.- Choplife Gaming<\/strong>, a prominent Pan-African gaming operator founded by Nigerian musician Oluwatosin Ajibade<\/strong>, known as Mr Eazi, has made a significant mark in Rwanda\u2019s gambling sector<\/strong>, remitting RWF17 bn ($11.7m) in taxes since entering the market in October 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Ajibade’s business empire spans music, entertainment, technology and finance, Choplife Gaming is his dedicated venture in the gaming sector, actively expanding operations in Rwanda. The company provides sports betting, casino and virtual gaming<\/strong> services, quickly establishing itself as a key, compliant and commercially successful operator in Rwanda\u2019s fast-growing gaming market<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ajibade described the tax payments<\/strong> as proof of Choplife Gaming\u2019s commitment to Rwanda\u2019s gaming ecosystem. \u201cSince October 2022, Choplife Gaming has contributed over 17 billion RWF in taxes. This progress is only possible because of a regulatory environment that fosters growth and partnership<\/strong>,\u201d he said in a press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ajibade highlighted his ongoing engagement with Rwanda Revenue Authority<\/strong> Commissioner General Rene Niwenshuti to reinforce collaboration between operators and regulators. \u201cWe remain committed to operating at the highest standards of compliance<\/strong> and are excited about the future of our work in Rwanda,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gaming success meets Rwanda\u2019s economic ambitions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Choplife\u2019s contribution reflects not only significant gaming activity but also alignment with Rwanda\u2019s push for revenue mobilisation and economic diversification<\/strong>. Its expansion in the country is expected to support private-sector investment<\/strong>, create jobs and foster public-private partnerships across East Africa\u2019s gaming market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The $11.7m payments come amid a major overhaul<\/strong> of Rwanda\u2019s gaming regulations<\/strong>, which raised the tax on gross gambling revenue from 13 per cent to 40 per cent and the withholding tax on winnings from 15 per cent to 25 per cent. These reforms<\/strong> aim to support Rwanda\u2019s medium-term economic growth targets and are part of the Second National Strategy for Transformation (NST2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond Rwanda, Choplife Gaming is part of Ajibade\u2019s broader business empire, spanning music, entertainment, technology and finance. In the gaming sector, Choplife is also leveraging an international licensing agreement<\/strong> with betPawa in Nigeria<\/strong>, expanding its footprint in sports betting operations.<\/p>\n\n\n
