The company said it plans to <strong>redirect its focus<\/strong> to African markets where regulatory conditions, taxation and payment systems are more favourable for locally licensed operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>pawaTech said in a statement: \u201cThis difficult decision results from the current market environment in Senegal, which has created <strong>significant challenges<\/strong> for locally licensed and taxed operators. <strong>High taxes<\/strong>, a payment monopoly and significant regulatory fees have placed local operators at a <strong>clear disadvantage<\/strong> compared to offshore operators.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These challenges, the company explained, have created an <strong>uneven playing field<\/strong>, making it difficult for locally regulated businesses to operate compliantly while delivering the <strong>competitive products<\/strong> and offers customers expect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>pawaTech said its local partners remain committed to responsible, transparent and sustainable <strong>operations across Africa<\/strong>. \u201cIn other <strong>African markets<\/strong> with competitive taxation and open payment systems, locally licensed operators like betPawa played a vital role in providing a compelling and <strong>responsible product<\/strong> to consumers, expanding the gaming industry,<strong> increasing government tax revenues<\/strong> and creating local jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regulatory hurdles in Senegal have driven much activity abroad. \u201cIn Senegal, however, the <strong>restrictive conditions<\/strong> have instead pushed much of the <strong>activity offshore<\/strong>, weakening the positive impact of licensed operators on both the economy and the community,\u201d said pawaTech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company added: \u201cWhile current conditions in Senegal make continued operations impossible, we remain <strong>hopeful<\/strong> that conditions will improve, allowing us to return and once again contribute positively to the<strong> local economy<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"304\" height=\"166\" data-id=\"8686\" src=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/09\/BETPAWA-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8686\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The company&#8217;s commitment to responsible gaming is further demonstrated by its membership in the <strong>International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA)<\/strong>, which aims to bolster sports betting integrity across African markets.
