The sessions aimed to raise awareness of the Board\u2019s mandate, encourage responsible gaming and promote cooperation in <strong>enforcement and compliance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NLGRB said: \u201cThese stakeholder engagements were aimed at enlightening leaders on the <strong>Board\u2019s mandate<\/strong>, promoting responsible gaming and fostering <strong>collaboration<\/strong> in enforcement and compliance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attendees included chief administrative officers, senior management staff, community development officers, health educators and sub-accountants. The meetings provided a <strong>platform<\/strong> for local leaders to share perspectives on challenges posed by gambling in their <strong>communities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants raised concerns about the widespread presence of <strong>slot machines and fish tables<\/strong>, noting that underage gambling often occurs secretly. Discussions also touched on <strong>regulatory clarity<\/strong>, including the distance required between gambling premises and restricted areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants also noted &#8220;perceived contradictions&#8221; between the Uganda Revenue Authority\u2019s <strong>Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing System (EFRIS)<\/strong> and the Lotteries and Gaming Act. The <strong>EFRIS<\/strong> is a <strong>digital platform<\/strong> used to track sales, generate official receipts and ensure tax compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>New board builds community trust<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Launched in August, the <strong>new board<\/strong> of the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) is driving growth and responsibility in Uganda\u2019s gambling sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Officials welcomed the <strong>Board\u2019s outreach<\/strong>, commending the initiative and expressing appreciation for the opening of regional offices. Many said the sessions had improved their understanding of the regulator\u2019s role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NLGRB said: \u201cParticipants expressed <strong>appreciation<\/strong> for the <strong>engagement<\/strong>, noting that it deepened their understanding of the Board\u2019s <strong>mandate<\/strong> and the vital role districts play in <strong>fostering responsible gaming<\/strong>.
