As concerns grow over gambling‐related social challenges such as theft, debt and mental health, eBet is reminding the public about its commitment to player protection.

In a recent interview, Nobandzi Shongwe, eBet’s Marketing Manager, noted that many of the cases reported by police involve misused cash or unpaid loans taken to finance betting, and the company works closely with law enforcement agencies to resolve such matters.

Shongwe stressed that this partnership is essential to ensure that betting remains responsible and that emergent problems are tackled before harm escalates. However, she added that the company is legally restricted from sharing certain customer information unless ordered by a court.

According to Shongwe, eBet supports law enforcement in more severe incidents, where gambling has led to life-threatening situations, domestic violence or other criminal activities. In these cases, accounts of persons under investigation are blocked to prevent further harm.

On age restrictions, Shongwe emphasised that eBet allows only persons aged 18 or older to participate. She urged players to gamble only with money they are prepared to lose, warning that betting is not a guaranteed way to make income.

To raise public awareness about responsible gambling, eBet deploys both grassroots outreach and social media campaigns. These efforts target especially young adults and tertiary students. eBet also collaborates with mental health professionals to conduct educational roadshows and provide referrals to psychologists or therapists when necessary, acknowledging that some cases may need more extensive support than the company can provide.

While the platform does not yet offer director counselling, account blocks on a temporary basis are available at a user’s request. The company is also planning to introduce a helpline or toll-free number to better support users facing addiction or gambling-related difficulties.

   See also:

See also: SARGF sounds alarm over increase in problem gambling referrals

Operator reveals collaboration with law enforcement agencies to promote responsible gaming practices and address associated issues.

Eswatini-based operator eBet has initiated a collaboration with law enforcement agencies to bolster responsible gaming practices and mitigate associated social challenges like theft and mental health issues.
