Hamusa Mugaye<\/strong>, Community Manager at Premier Bet Malawi, highlighted the initiative’s purpose during the handover ceremony. He said: “At Premier Bet, we always value every sporting discipline we have in the country and our objective is to see these sports developing, hence our effort in supporting them in different ways.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mugaye further emphasised the company’s goal of “building dreams for young girls by creating a platform where they can be drilled with necessary skills and allow them to graduate to big stages in the future as well as contribute to the national team”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The academy’s construction reflects Premier Bet Malawi’s commitment to reducing youth idleness and encouraging healthy habits through sports. Through its partnership with local authorities like the BCC and the Netball Association of Malawi (NAM)<\/strong>, the firm is directly tackling challenges such as limited access to facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Vitumbiko Gubuduza<\/strong>, NAM President, said: “As NAM, we are really excited because of this facility which we believe that it will minimise the problems we are currently facing of having limited playing courts. For the country to have quality players, we need to have enough facilities like this.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n BCC officials also praised the contribution, linking it to national development goals. Alfred Nyengo<\/strong>, Director of Human Resources, Management and Development at BCC, described the academy as a “huge contribution which is also in line with Malawi’s 2063 agenda of promoting sports from grassroots level as well as building a nation with healthy citizens”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Nyengo added that the facility would engage young girls in positive activities, helping them “avoid getting involved in immoral behaviours that can damage their future” while nurturing potential national stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In a country where netball enjoys widespread participation but struggles with funding and facilities, this project could inspire similar corporate initiatives, potentially increasing talent pipelines for the national team and boosting community health.<\/p>\n\n\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/09\/photo-1517927033932-b3d18e61fb3a-300x200.jpg\")
