The event was attended by various stakeholders, including local leaders, disability community members and NLA officials from Monrovia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While giving the opening address, <strong>Mayor Abraham B. Jackson<\/strong> of Harper City thanked the NLA for consistently supporting Liberia&#8217;s disadvantaged communities. He said: &#8220;With all the goodwill brought to our people, I hope that this initiative continues and is not just a one-time occurrence.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NLA&#8217;s assistant director of welfare, <strong>Helena Dior<\/strong>, said the donation emphasises the organisation&#8217;s commitment to caring for and protecting Liberia&#8217;s less privileged citizens. The gesture builds on the first initiative in 2023 when the NLA shared food and vital items with orphans, hospitals, safe homes and those with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dior also noted that the initiatives are backed by the president and vice president, reinforcing the government&#8217;s support for its vulnerable citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Christian Cooper<\/strong>, NLA\u2019s deputy director general, reaffirmed the organisation&#8217;s commitment to supporting marginalised communities. He said: &#8220;President Boakai cares deeply for the disabled community, and what we are doing today is just the start. We will continue to bring sustainable support to your lives.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cooper also confirmed that the NLA is planning to revive the lotto to create a steady funding stream for the disabled community.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Representing the National Commission on Disability, <strong>Oliver S.T. Baryoueh<\/strong> praised the NLA for its continued assistance. He said that the recent aid had made a lasting impact on the disabled community and appealed for it to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Honourable <strong>Henry Cole<\/strong>, Maryland County superintendent, thanked the lottery authority for their generosity.
