This is an opportunity to grow our sport and have different sport disciplines for <strong>expansion and growth<\/strong>.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The championship kicked off on August 30 at The Fun Station, a leading gaming and entertainment venue in the city of Kampala. Participants competed <strong>virtually<\/strong> using the<strong> World Rally Championship (WRC) <\/strong>Generations game, the official rally <strong>racing simulator<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/09\/MOTORs-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8152\" srcset=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/09\/MOTORs-800x600.jpg 800w, https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/09\/MOTORs.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A participant engages in the virtual rally competition during the championship series.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Isaac Katende<\/strong> dominated the event, winning five of six stages and completing the rally in 27 minutes and 20 seconds. Umar Dauda finished in second place, while Shafiq Matovu took third.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FMU Esport Coordinator Leon Ssenyange highlighted the initiative\u2019s role in \u201c<strong>growing the sport and attracting young fans<\/strong>\u201d and said that the championship will continue through the end of 2025, with a full series scheduled for 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The launch reflects FMU\u2019s partnership with The Fun Station and its affiliation with the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de l\u2019Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motorsport. By supporting esports <strong>alongside traditional competitions<\/strong>, FMU is opening new pathways for participation, <strong>talent development<\/strong> and fan engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FMU Esports Championship Series is <strong>building momentum<\/strong>, with the inaugural round hailed as a huge success and the second round scheduled for the first week of October 2025.
