From healthcare and education to youth empowerment, the NLA Good Causes Foundation transforms communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Ghana.- Ghana\u2019s National Lottery Authority (NLA)<\/strong> has benefitted more than two million citizens<\/strong> in the last four years. This achievement has been delivered through the Good Causes Foundation, funded by lottery revenues and corporate partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foundation, since its inception in 2001, has been responding to urgent\u00a0community needs<\/strong>\u00a0across all\u00a016 regions<\/strong>, \u201cfocusing on healthcare, education,\u00a0youth unemployment<\/strong> and cultural programs”, according to an NLA press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among its most recent projects<\/strong> in 2025, under Director-General Mohammed Abdul-Salam<\/strong>, the NLA allocated GHS100,000 (\u20ac10,000) to fight a meningitis outbreak in the Upper West Region and an equal \u20ac10,000 to support Volta communities hit by coastal flooding and tidal waves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foundation also presented GHS100,000 (\u20ac10,000) to Blind Support to fund a skills training program for persons with disabilities<\/strong>, and GHS50,000 (\u20ac5,000) to the National Youth Authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Director-General Mohammed Abdul-Salam emphasised the foundation\u2019s mission. \u201cWe remain committed to reforms and projects that will directly improve communities across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abdul-Salam\u2019s leadership was recently recognised when he received the Gold Award<\/strong> at the 8th Ghana Business Leaders Excellence Awards in Accra, highlighting his contribution to boosting national revenue through the lottery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Impact now, plans for tomorrow<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Over the past four years, the foundation has carried out a wide range of projects<\/strong>, including building classroom blocks, refurbishing schools like Mamfe Presby Primary School, and supporting scholarship programs and technology labs for remote schools<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Healthcare initiatives<\/strong>\u00a0included medical equipment donations, psychiatric facility upgrades and community medical outreach. Sports initiatives featured GHS60,000 (\u20ac6,000) for Real Tamale United\u2019s premier league campaign, while cultural support extended to various festivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foundation also contributed GHS20m (\u20ac2m) to the government\u2019s YouStart program over two years, a flagship initiative aimed at addressing youth unemployment<\/strong> through entrepreneurship and skills development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, the NLA Good Causes Foundation plans to expand water and sanitation projects, enhance healthcare facilities, strengthen educational infrastructure in underserved regions and support new\u00a0community development initiatives<\/strong>\u00a0across Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n
