Zambia.- Employees at Canlin Casino<\/strong> in Zambia have received full compensation<\/strong> after the establishment abruptly closed, leaving staff uncertain about their pay and benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Zambia Ministry of Labour and Social Security<\/strong> intervened to ensure K276,623.46 (\u20ac13,831) was paid to 27 workers, covering salaries, gratuities and accrued leave days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The casino, located in the city of Lusaka<\/strong>, is operated by Canlin Investments Limited, a gaming and hospitality company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Staff had initially been told their last day of reporting would be August 25, but the casino closed prematurely on August 20, posting a notice stating: \u201cbusiness suspended<\/strong> for rectification\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concerned about their unpaid salaries and benefits, the employees reported the issue to the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. Labour inspectors engaged with Canlin Investments\u2019 management and ensured all owed payments<\/strong> were calculated and disbursed promptly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mwaka Ndawa<\/strong>, Principal Public Relations Officer for the Ministry, said in a press statement: \u201cThe Ministry is pleased to confirm that all affected employees have since been paid in full, and would like to commend the workers for promptly seeking lawful redress.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry reaffirmed that it will continue to monitor both the employees and employers, fostering industrial harmony<\/strong> and social justice within workplaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
