Ghana.- Ghana National Lottery Authority<\/strong> (NLA) Director-General Mohammed Abdul-Salam<\/strong> has been awarded the Gold Award at the 8th Ghana Business Leaders Excellence Awards in Accra, highlighting his impact in boosting national revenue<\/strong> through the lottery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The honour came just six months after he took over as NLA Director-General, underscoring the rapid progress and reforms he has introduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The annual awards took place on July 25 to celebrate individuals and organisations shaping Ghana\u2019s business and gaming sectors<\/strong>. This year\u2019s awards ceremony was themed \u201cNational Development Through Dynamic Business Leadership\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 25 leaders were recognised for their achievements, with Abdul-Salam standing out for his work in the lottery industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The top-tier Gold Award was presented to Abdul-Salam for his contributions to Ghana\u2019s economic development<\/strong> in the category of National Revenue Mobilisation (Lottery) by the President of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Stephane Miezan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abdul-Salam said on the NLA\u2019s official Facebook page: “I am deeply grateful to have received the Gold Award in recognition of my contribution to Ghana\u2019s economic development in the area of National Revenue Mobilisation (Lottery) within my first six months<\/strong>. This recognition reflects the collective effort<\/strong>, hard work and dedication of the entire management and staff of NLA.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abdul-Salam\u2019s dual role in Africa\u2019s lottery sector<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Abdul-Salam leads the NLA and also serves as Vice President of the African Lotteries Association<\/strong> (ALA). He assumed the NLA role in January 2025, after Samuel Awuku resigned, and was later appointed by the ALA Board to complete the remaining term of Awuku. These dual roles give him a strong influence<\/strong> over both Ghana\u2019s national lottery operations and lottery initiatives across Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In regards to the sector\u2019s future, Abdul-Salam stressed the NLA\u2019s commitment to fairness and transparency, while supporting vulnerable groups nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added: “At the NLA, we are poised to introduce reforms that will enhance our operations, improve efficiency, launch innovative projects<\/strong> and ultimately boost revenue for national development.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, colleagues offered their congratulations via Facebook posts. Alhassan Charles said: \u201cWell-deserved recognition! Your dedication to national revenue mobilisation is truly inspiring.\u201d Zai Dan said: \u201cDetermination indeed into success\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n
