At the same time, the Association signalled that it is willing to collaborate with responsible,<strong> licensed betting operators<\/strong> in ways that support the sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kurt Okraku<\/strong>, GFA President and 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), made the announcement at the Association\u2019s congress on August 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/08\/Kurt-Okraku-new-GFA-President4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6894\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">GFA President Kurt Okraku announces a ban on domestic football betting.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Okraku said: \u201cNo betting company is allowed to take bets on our domestic leagues. We are, however, open to <strong>partnerships<\/strong> with credible, legal betting companies who wish to engage with our football ecosystem transparently and ethically.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ban applies to the Ghana Premier League, Division One League, Women\u2019s Premier League and all other<strong> local tournaments<\/strong>. Okraku said the step is critical to maintaining transparency, ensuring fair play and keeping matches free from outside influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Responsible betting supported, rule-breakers punished<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even while the GFA tightens regulations, it still welcomes responsible betting companies. Okraku said sponsorship is important for the growth of football, but any <strong>partnership<\/strong> must follow principles of <strong>transparency, ethics and integrity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Association has already launched legal action against companies operating outside the rules. \u201cWe are pursuing <strong>legal action<\/strong> locally and internationally against companies that unlawfully take bets on our leagues. Our legal department is working closely with reputable legal firms to confront these activities head-on,\u201d said Okraku.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are among broader reforms prior to the season.
