As one of Africa\u2019s most accessible talent accelerators, the programme opens doors to aspiring game developers continent-wide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maliyo Games founder and CEO, Hugo Obi, stated that in just five years, GameUp Africa has evolved into one of the continent\u2019s most impactful game development initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"256\" height=\"197\" src=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/08\/images.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6684\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Hugo Obi leads innovation and empowers Africa\u2019s next game developers.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Obi said: &#8220;We have seen learners grow into leaders, launching their own projects, joining studios and shaping the future of <strong>Africa\u2019s game development<\/strong> scene. This year\u2019s edition builds on that momentum with even more structure, scale and support for new talent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>12-week project-based course<\/strong> in online instruction, set to kick off on <strong>September 1<\/strong>, is designed to transform raw talent into professional creatives who can compete globally. The students are taught game art, design and audio through practical training from<strong> international mentors<\/strong>, industry trainers and a motivating peer group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From gamers to industry leaders<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bootcamp has built a reputation as more than just a training ground. Alumni have secured roles at leading studios,<strong> launched their own games<\/strong>, and driven innovation in Africa\u2019s fast-growing gaming market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s edition introduces new features, including game jams to sharpen rapid prototyping skills, community meet-ups to enhance networking and visibility, and an elite alumni track offering top graduates <strong>exclusive career opportunities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maliyo Games reminded candidates from across Africa that applications are now open via the <strong>programme\u2019s official website <\/strong>and will close on August 21.
