Nigeria.- The Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA)<\/strong> has launched SafePlay<\/strong>, a self-exclusion platform designed to help players voluntarily opt out of gambling across all licensed operators in the state. The tool was unveiled at an event held on August 6, 2025<\/strong>, at the Regent Luxury Suites, Ikeja<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SafePlay allows users to restrict themselves from accessing any gaming or betting service for a selected period ranging from 24 hours<\/strong> to permanent exclusion. Once activated, a player\u2019s access is blocked across all LSLGA-licensed platforms<\/strong>, and the decision cannot be reversed until the selected time has passed. The initiative also connects users to mental health resources and addiction support, reinforcing a broader public health focus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The move marks a significant shift in Lagos State\u2019s gaming oversight, positioning it as a model of responsible regulation. It follows the 2024 Supreme Court judgment<\/a> that placed full regulatory authority for gambling under state governments, a ruling that has since redefined Nigeria\u2019s legal landscape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SafePlay also complements other reforms by the LSLGA, including a recent MoU with TVC Communications<\/a> to drive responsible gaming education through media campaigns. The state is also carrying out enforcement actions against illegal operators in its jurisdiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
