Mauritius.- Horse racing in Mauritius has received a significant boost, with six trainer licences officially approved by the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA),<\/strong> promising a stronger and more competitive season ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement from the Mauritius Turf Club (MTC),<\/strong> incorporating the Jockey Club, came hot on the heels of the GRA\u2019s Board meeting held this month. The development marks a critical step toward the sport\u2019s much-anticipated return and sets the stage for a new chapter in horse racing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now excitement is building for the racing season set to kick off at the Champ de Mars Racecourse<\/strong> this year. The MTC expressed its strong commitment to a well-regulated and vibrant racing season ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs we move closer to the official reopening of the 2025 racing season the MTC reiterates its full support for a fair, dynamic and well regulated racing<\/strong> environment,\u201d the MTC said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first approvals mark an important milestone in restoring horse racing to its place on Mauritius\u2019 sporting calendar. They also reflect the GRA\u2019s strong commitment to transparency and professionalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trainer licences pave the way<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The GRA has named the six approved trainers<\/strong> as Ramapatee Gujadhur, Subiraj Gujadhur, Vincent Allet, Preetam Daby, Vicky Ruhee and Carl Hewitson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They have successfully met all stringent regulatory requirements<\/strong>. These include the submission of full documentation and thorough verification of the origin of their funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the MTC also confirmed that seven additional applications<\/strong> are still under careful assessment with licences expected to be issued soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
