The new laboratories will be tasked with inspecting, testing and certifying any gaming or betting machine or software before deployment or operation in the Ugandan betting market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Uganda.- The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB)<\/strong> has announced the approval of GLI Africa (Pty) Limited<\/strong> and BMM Test Labs Uganda Limited<\/strong> as independent gaming testing laboratories. The accreditation, valid for three years<\/strong>, will see the two become the board\u2019s authorised testing laboratories for its gaming and betting sector before licensing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new laboratories will be tasked with inspecting, testing and certifying any gaming or betting machine or device, as well as software, before deployment or operation in the Ugandan betting market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Section 37(3) of the Lotteries and Gaming Act CAP 334<\/strong> empowers the Board to collaborate with any person to test gaming or betting machines for compliance with standards, and requires licence holders or applicants to submit their machines for testing and to hold evidence of test results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In accordance with these provisions, the NLGRB launched a competitive process to select and prequalify independent testing laboratories seeking to provide testing and certification services to the gaming industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Board received and evaluated applications from GLI Africa and BMM Test labs and determined that both met the requirements outlined in Regulation 13(2) of the Lotteries and Gaming (Gaming and Betting Machines) Regulations, S.I. No. 10 of 2017. Consequently, the regulator approved their applications at its 144th meeting<\/strong>, issuing them a certificate of registration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the NLGRB, the pre-qualification process aims to improve regulatory supervision and compliance with gaming laws and standards, bring the gaming industry in line with global best practices, and promote public and industry trust in gaming integrity.<\/p>\n\n\n
