{"id":4416,"date":"2025-06-27T11:31:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-27T14:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/?p=4416"},"modified":"2026-04-19T15:59:41","modified_gmt":"2026-04-19T18:59:41","slug":"nlgrb-holds-stakeholder-meeting-to-strengthen-gaming-industry-compliance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/nlgrb-holds-stakeholder-meeting-to-strengthen-gaming-industry-compliance","title":{"rendered":"NLGRB holds stakeholder meeting to strengthen gaming industry compliance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The betting companies in Uganda have formed an association to collaborate with the Board and support its regulatory efforts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Uganda.- The <strong>National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB)<\/strong> of Uganda has convened a stakeholder meeting with the gaming industry to bolster regulatory compliance among gaming operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Held on <strong>June 17 at M\u00e9stil Kampala<\/strong>, the forum, according to the Board Chairman <strong>Aloysius Mugasa Adyeri<\/strong>, aimed to reinforce operators&#8217; knowledge of compliance in key areas, including the Lotteries and Gaming Act, Cap 334, anti-money Laundering protocols, licensing requirements and <strong>National Central Electronic Monitoring System (NCEMS)<\/strong> integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adyeri said: Compliance is not a burden, and it is the baseline. It is the foundation upon which a credible and sustainable industry is built. When operators fully comply with the law, the Sector benefits: Public confidence is enhanced, government revenue increases and vulnerable populations, especially the youth, are better protected.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While giving his opening address, the CEO of the Board, <strong>Denis Mudene<\/strong>, thanked the gaming operators for attending the meeting and revealed the Board&#8217;s plans to relocate its headquarters to <strong>Lithuli House in Bugolobi<\/strong> and open regional offices in <strong>Gulu<\/strong>, <strong>Mbale<\/strong> and <strong>Jinja<\/strong> by July&#8217;s end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the session, <strong>Richard Muteesaasira Kavuma<\/strong>, the Board&#8217;s Senior Manager for Regulatory Compliance, delivered a presentation outlining the Board&#8217;s expectations regarding compliance, licensing, IT and advertising, where improvements are needed. Kavuma said: &#8220;Compliance with the regulatory requirements will improve the operator&#8217;s performance and keep the regulator&#8217;s whip away.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When invited to share their input, <strong>David Kyilonde<\/strong>, a representative from one of the betting companies, announced that gaming operators had formed an association to collaborate with the Board and support its regulatory efforts.
