The influencers advocated for age restrictions and responsible ad guidelines instead of completely banning betting advertisements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The content creators questioned the logic of a blanket prohibition of digital betting ads, noting that traditional media outlets aren’t held to the same standards. They emphasised their commitment to upholding responsible gambling practices and adhering to global advertising best practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Instead of being barred from promoting gambling, the influencers propose that their platforms be utilised to get more publicity for the government’s responsible gaming initiatives, like BCLB’s ‘Chuka Control<\/a>,’ which focuses on youth education and safe betting practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As conveyed by their lawyer, Hansen Omida<\/strong>, they are willing to collaborate with BCLB, the Office of the Attorney General and other stakeholders to develop digital content regulations.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n To address concerns around gambling addiction, the BCLB introduced stringent guidelines that ban celebrities, influencers and content creators from promoting gambling. The new rules also mandate that all gambling ads obtain prior approval, include age disclaimers and responsible gaming messages and avoid placement near areas<\/a> frequented by children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The digital creators note that if the ban persists, it could deprive them of their livelihoods since many depend on partnerships with gambling brands for income.
