Burkina Faso.- The National Lottery of Niger (LONANI)<\/strong> has embarked on a benchmarking mission to Burkina Faso<\/strong> to learn from the experiences and best practices of the country’s National Lottery (LONAB)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visit, which took place from May 21 to May 24, 2025<\/strong>, culminated in an exchange of ideas between the LONANI delegation and their counterparts at LONAB. The discussions centred on key aspects of online gaming and regulation, including legal frameworks, licensing, operational structures and management strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Niger is one of the countries that rarely appears in the news for gambling innovation and developments. This is due to its very minute market size and strictly controlled gaming industry. The state holds a monopoly on all legal gambling activities, and there is no licensing system in place for private operators to participate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, Burkina Faso has had a licensing system for gambling since 1996<\/strong>. The country regulates land-based gambling activities, including casinos, lotteries and sports betting. While its online gambling laws are not clearly defined, the jurisdiction is home to both native and international sports betting sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By studying LONAB’s successful approaches to online gaming, LONANI aims to improve its performance and competitiveness in Niger’s gaming sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colonel Major Djibo<\/strong>, LONAN’s director general, thanked LONAB for its willingness to share expertise, noting that the meeting demonstrates the strong partnership between the two countries and holds promise for increased cooperation within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES)<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aymar Tiendrebeogo<\/strong>, LONAB’s technical advisor and acting director general, said the visit will strengthen ties and deepen the partnership between the two national lotteries.<\/p>\n\n\n
