Uganda.- Uganda’s National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) has confiscated more than 200 illegal gaming machines in its latest multi-district enforcement operation, conducted in collaboration with the Uganda Police Force.

The seizures took place in parts of Kampala Metropolitan, Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area (GKMA), Isingiro, Kibuku, Pallisa and Lamwo districts under Operation Mashine Haramu, a nationwide campaign targeting unlicensed gaming machines and the operators, manufacturers and suppliers involved in their distribution.

The regulator said enforcement operations remained ongoing across Uganda and commended local leaders and community members for providing information that helped authorities identify illegal gaming operations. It urged the public to continue supporting the campaign by reporting suspected violations.

The seizures come as the NLGRB steps up enforcement against illegal gaming operators across the country. Earlier this month, the regulator confiscated more than 170 illegal gaming machines across 11 districts, including Ibanda, Mbarara, Kabale, Masaka, Pallisa, Butebo, Namutumba, Apac, Nwoya, Oyam and Kole.

The NLGRB also recently reported blocking 23 unlicensed gaming websites in collaboration with the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), which works with telecommunications companies and internet service providers to restrict access to illegal platforms.
