South Africa.- The Gauteng Gambling Board (GGB)<\/strong> has recently hosted a meeting with the Lesotho Casino Board<\/strong> to promote cooperation and an exchange of expertise between the two jurisdictions.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussion centred on sharing knowledge about regulatory frameworks and operational standards with the goal of strengthening bilateral relations and supporting joint development projects in the gaming sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karabo Mbele<\/strong>, CEO of the GGB, led the session, offering insights into South Africa\u2019s gambling market and the role of strong regulatory frameworks in ensuring effective governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two authorities agreed on the necessity of continued cooperation to overcome regulatory obstacles. They also identified areas for joint work, including licensing, supervision and policy coordination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative aligns with the second Binational Commission meeting between South Africa<\/strong> and Lesotho<\/strong> in Maseru\u00a0on April 22 and 23, 2025<\/strong>. While no formal agreements were signed between the two regulators, the meeting reflects the commitment of both countries to enhance cooperation and drive progress in the Southern African gaming sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the second collaboration the Lesotho Casino Board will be having with another regional gambling regulator in recent weeks. In April, it embarked on a benchmarking campaign<\/a> with the Botswana Gambling Authority.<\/p>\n\n\n
