Ghana.- Ghana’s National Lottery Authority (NLA) is preparing to launch a daily sports lottery in partnership with the Ghana Sports Fund to generate additional revenue for sports development. Named the Sports Fortune Lotto, the planned draw was announced by NLA director-general Mohammed Abdul-Salam on October 2, according to The Publisher Online. The initiative aligns with the Fund’s mandate to mobilise and manage funding for sports, including through special sports lotteries.

The planned daily draw has been named the Sports Fortune Lotto, according to Radio Tamale. The initiative follows earlier plans for the NLA and the Ghana Sports Fund to introduce special sports lotteries. The Fund is also seeking to expand its revenue base through multiple sources, including betting and gaming-related income.

The Ghana Sports Fund was established under the Ghana Sports Fund Act, 2025 (Act 1159), and formally launched on January 23 2026, when its governing board was inaugurated in Accra. It has a mandate to mobilise and manage funding for sports development. Its funding framework includes lottery proceeds, while special sports lotteries are planned in collaboration with the NLA.

The October announcement did not specify a ticket price, prize structure or how proceeds from the planned lottery would be allocated.
