Key takeaways:

Kenya.- Kenya’s Association of Gaming Operators Kenya (AGOK) says rising subscriptions are enabling it to expand its advocacy through higher-level stakeholder engagement. The association’s October 5 statement links member backing to a broader role in shaping the sector’s business environment and player-protection practices. Its recent work includes consultations on Nairobi’s gambling framework and a three-year partnership with the African iGaming Alliance.

“Our strength lies in our growing community,” AGOK said in an October 5 statement, adding that the continuous rise in subscriptions is fuelling its mission. The association said the expanded engagement is aimed at advocating for a robust gaming ecosystem in Kenya.

AGOK made the comments during Customer Service Week 2026, held from October 5 to 9, as it thanked members for their trust, support and loyalty. It said their backing was helping it push boundaries and raise the bar for the sector.

AGOK highlighted player protection as a key priority, citing early detection of harmful playing habits, data-secure operator systems and awareness of tools such as deposit caps and self-exclusion.

The comments follow significant membership growth. At its April 2026 annual general meeting, AGOK reported that membership had increased from 12 to 51 operators over the previous year. The AGM also highlighted engagement on regulatory and policy issues.

Its third-quarter general members meeting brought together online and land-based operators. AGOK said the meeting was intended to achieve new milestones for members and advance its mandate to promote a practical business environment, sustainable industry and economic development.

AGOK has also engaged on Nairobi’s gambling framework. Nairobi County established a 13-member taskforce in September following consultations with AGOK to review licensing fees, regulatory overlaps, enforcement and business sustainability.
