The operation is part of a wider campaign by Uganda\u2019s gambling regulator against gaming activities operating without the required licences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Uganda.- Uganda\u2019s National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB)<\/strong> has confiscated more than 123 illegal gaming machines<\/strong> in a coordinated enforcement operation across the Greater Katonga region<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The operation, conducted with the Uganda Police Force under Operation Mashine Haramu<\/strong>, targeted gaming activities in Mpigi, Mabuye, Katende, Kalagala and Nakirebe. The regulator also carried out compliance activities through its Greater Masaka team in Kyanamukaka, Lukaya, Kyotera, Mitondo, Katondo and Kyanjale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NLGRB said the action targeted gaming activities operating without the required licences and approvals. Under Uganda\u2019s Lotteries and Gaming Act, the regulator has the power to inspect gaming premises and seize equipment used in illegal operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest seizures add to a series of enforcement actions by the NLGRB this year. In May, the regulator recovered 169 illegal gaming machines during operations in parts of West Nile, including Arua, Maracha, Koboko, Nebbi and Pakwach. In March, the Board reported the seizure of 129 illegal gaming machines and the closure of eight non-compliant gaming premises in the Kampala Metropolitan and Greater Kampala Metropolitan areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NLGRB has also reported wider enforcement against illegal gaming. In August, its chief executive officer, Denis Ngabirano<\/strong>, told Parliament that the regulator had confiscated 9,983 illegal gaming machines over six years and blocked 57 illegal online gaming sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Board said it would continue working with the police to remove illegal gaming operations and enforce compliance with Uganda\u2019s gambling regulations.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t
