The regulatory spotlight shifts to Tanzania next year as the Gaming Board prepares to welcome Africa\u2019s gaming regulators for the GRAF conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Tanzania.- Tanzania has been announced as the host of the 2027 Gaming Regulators Africa Forum<\/strong> (GRAF 2027) conference, bringing African gaming regulators together in the country next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a September 18 statement, GRAF said: \u201cThe Gaming Regulators Africa Forum is pleased to formally announce that the United Republic of Tanzania<\/strong> will host the GRAF conference in 2027.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gaming Board of Tanzania (GBT) has accepted responsibility for hosting the conference, which will follow this year\u2019s GRAF gathering in Maputo, Mozambique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Forum said the move will build on its efforts to strengthen cooperation<\/strong> between regulators, advance responsible gambling and create a more connected African regulatory community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GRAF thanked the GBT for taking on hosting duties and said it looked forward to bringing the regulatory community together in Tanzania next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement follows GRAF\u2019s 2026 conference<\/a>, which ran from September 14 to 17. Regulators and industry representatives used the four-day event to discuss the issues reshaping gambling across Africa, from AI and cybersecurity to player protection, illegal online gambling and closer regulatory cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held under the theme \u201cRegulation for Transformation. Safer Gambling. Smarter Regulation. Stronger African Collaboration,\u201d the conference put technology and AI high on the regulatory agenda, with discussions examining their role in modernising oversight <\/strong>and strengthening player protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tanzania\u2019s gaming regulator has also been stepping up its engagement on responsible gambling and regulatory cooperation. In August, GBT representatives travelled to Toronto for responsible-gambling training hosted by Canada\u2019s Responsible Gambling Council<\/a>. The programme covered player protection, gambling-harm prevention, marketing and advertising, and regulatory practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Board also signed an MoU with South Africa\u2019s National Lotteries Commission<\/a> in July to exchange knowledge, information and regulatory best practices on lottery regulation and oversight.<\/p>\n\n\n
