Ghana.- The National Lottery Authority (NLA)<\/strong> has cancelled all lotto draws scheduled for Monday, September 21, after the date was declared a statutory public holiday for Founders\u2019 Day<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NLA announced the cancellation on Thursday, September 17, in a notice confirming that all draws planned for September 21 will not take place because of the holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ghana restored September 21 as Founders\u2019 Day in 2025 following changes to its public holiday calendar. The date is also the birthday of Kwame Nkrumah<\/strong>, Ghana\u2019s first prime minister and president, whose role in the country\u2019s independence movement has long been associated with the observance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision particularly affects the NLA\u2019s Monday Special draw<\/strong>, a 5\/90 lottery game in which players select five numbers from 1 to 90, with the winning numbers determined during the scheduled weekly draw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development comes as the NLA moves towards its October 1 deadline for ending manual, paper-based lotto operations by Private Lotto Operators (PLOs), agents and writers. The transition requires PLOs to replace paper-based staking with Point of Sale (POS) terminals. The NLA said operators, agents and writers that fail to comply will not be permitted to provide lottery services.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t
