Nigeria.- Nigeria\u2019s gambling stakeholders have organised a safer gambling awareness session for students at Lagos State University of Education (LASUED)<\/strong> as part of Africa Safer Gambling Week 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The outreach, held on Wednesday, September 9, brought together representatives from the African iGaming Alliance (AiA), Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA), Gamble Alert, Women in Nigeria Gaming (WiNG) Network and Association of Nigerian Bookmakers (ANB) to discuss responsible gambling and gambling-related harms with students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interactive session introduced students to the risks associated with gambling and the importance of making informed decisions when participating in betting and gaming activities. Participants were also reminded that gambling is intended for adults and should be treated as entertainment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussions also addressed gambling-related harm and stressed the availability of support for people who may experience difficulties linked to their gambling activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session included questions from students, who sought clarification on gambling risks, how gambling-related harm can develop, and how to recognise when gambling may be becoming problematic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stakeholders identified education and awareness as key elements of player protection, stressing the importance of taking responsible gambling discussions into local communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The LASUED engagement took place during the five-day Africa Safer Gambling Week campaign, which began on September 7 and concludes on September 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
