Simon Appiah Junior, deputy administrator, said the Fund had held discussions with the Gaming Commission of Ghana<\/strong> as it explores ways to generate more consistent resources<\/strong> beyond periodic government funding on Asempa FM on September 7, Adom Online reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The talks form part of a broader effort to build a diversified funding <\/strong>base rather than depend on any single source of income. \u201cIf we are successful in this, it\u2019s about sustainability. Once the funds keep coming and coming and coming, and we draw a table,\u201d said Appiah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Professor Koryoe Anim-Wright, board chairperson, identified \u201ca share of fees from betting companies<\/strong>\u201d among the Fund\u2019s revenue sources, alongside parliamentary allocations, special sports lotteries run with the National Lottery Authority, sporting-event proceeds, sponsorships, bonuses, competition proceeds and certification fees, according to MyJoyOnline. Anim-Wright also stressed the need for transparent and accountable management of the Fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The funding push is aimed in part at strengthening the financial position of sports clubs. Appiah warned that the collapse of clubs could have consequences across the wider sports industry. \u201cLet me tell you, if these clubs collapse, the industry collapses,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Fund is also prepared to provide direct financial support<\/strong> to individual clubs, although Appiah said the level of assistance would depend on available resources. \u201cThe first thing is, we are ready even to support individual clubs. Yes, because if you are supporting federations, it entails clubs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He proposed predictable annual allocations to give clubs greater financial stability while also helping federations organise competitions. \u201cIf we have money, all of us must agree, for every year, every club is entitled to a so-so amount. So having done that, you know, you have provided at least for them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond club funding, the Fund is also developing plans for a formal athlete welfare system<\/strong>. Administrator Dr David Kofi Wuaku said the proposed scheme would allow athletes to contribute and save towards their future, with the initiative intended to provide greater financial security after retirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\nFund moves towards implementation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
