{"id":32966,"date":"2026-09-09T07:42:05","date_gmt":"2026-09-09T10:42:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/?p=32966"},"modified":"2026-09-10T02:28:18","modified_gmt":"2026-09-10T05:28:18","slug":"nigerian-bookmakers-and-african-igaming-alliance-agree-framework-for-industry-cooperation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/nigerian-bookmakers-and-african-igaming-alliance-agree-framework-for-industry-cooperation","title":{"rendered":"Nigerian bookmakers and African iGaming Alliance agree framework for industry cooperation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The partnership covers responsible gaming, player protection, taxation, AML\/CFT, compliance, illegal gaming, research and capacity building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nigeria.- The <strong>Association of Nigerian Bookmakers (ANB)<\/strong> and the <strong>African iGaming Alliance (AiA)<\/strong> have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation on regulation, responsible gaming and industry development in Nigeria and across Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The agreement was signed on September 4 by <strong>Gift Tuadibofa<\/strong>, executive secretary of ANB, and <strong>Olabimpe Akingba<\/strong>, AiA board member and head of responsible gaming at PawaTech. It establishes a framework for collaboration between the Nigerian industry association representing licensed sports betting operators and the Pan-African igaming organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The partnership will cover areas including responsible and safer gaming, player protection, regulatory and policy matters, taxation, compliance, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML\/CFT). The organisations will also cooperate on efforts to address illegal and unlicensed gaming, market integrity, research, knowledge sharing and capacity building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Tuadibofa, the partnership would strengthen Nigeria\u2019s engagement with the broader African gaming industry while creating opportunities for knowledge sharing and industry dialogue. She added that cooperation between industry organisations could lead to stronger policy outcomes and the development of responsible gaming practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking on behalf of AiA, Akingba said the MoU would provide a basis for closer cooperation between the two organisations.
