{"id":32579,"date":"2026-09-04T02:07:46","date_gmt":"2026-09-04T05:07:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/?p=32579"},"modified":"2026-09-07T05:46:52","modified_gmt":"2026-09-07T08:46:52","slug":"lonagui-highlights-lotterys-role-in-guineas-local-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/lonagui-highlights-lotterys-role-in-guineas-local-economy","title":{"rendered":"LONAGUI highlights lottery\u2019s role in Guinea\u2019s local economy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guinea\u2019s national lottery operator says its nationwide retail network is creating income opportunities, supporting local businesses and expanding economic activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guinea.- Guinea\u2019s National Lottery operator (LONAGUI) has highlighted the<strong> economic role<\/strong> of its nationwide distribution network, pointing to employment and income opportunities created through its retail operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LONAGUI said its physical distribution network extends across all of Guinea\u2019s prefectures and includes thousands of<strong> retailers<\/strong>, commercial agents and technical partners, in a LinkedIn post published on September 3, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LONAGUI\u2019s website currently lists <strong>8,000 points of sale<\/strong>, 20 agencies and 43 commercial partners across Guinea, supporting 237 direct jobs and 9,000 indirect jobs linked to its activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The operator said the network helps generate additional business and income for small enterprises operating its points of sale, while spreading economic activity beyond the capital, Conakry.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2026\/09\/LONAGUI-480x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32585\" srcset=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2026\/09\/LONAGUI-480x600.jpg 480w, https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2026\/09\/LONAGUI.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">LONAGUI promotes youth income opportunities through its retail network.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LONAGUI also linked its nationwide presence to <strong>local entrepreneurship <\/strong>and income opportunities for young people. \u201cCreating income opportunities for young people across all regions is our way of contributing to Guinea\u2019s balanced development,\u201d LONAGUI said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The operator\u2019s focus on youth development also extends to education. Its <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/guineas-national-lottery-launches-fourth-scholarship-programme-for-masters-students\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"30306\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fourth scholarship programme<\/a> received more than 1,000 applications before the application phase closed in August. LONAGUI said the programme is aimed at supporting young Guineans in their academic and professional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LONAGUI currently lists more than 88 socio-cultural projects supported since January 2023 and more than GNF45bn (US$5.1m) committed to the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The operator became exclusively responsible for the exploitation of lottery and sports-betting products sold through physical distribution networks in Guinea in 2022.
