Discussions covered the 48-hour rule, the non-enrolment of matters, the investigation and seizure of evidence in cybercrime cases, and the use of racketeering provisions to address organised criminal activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A presentation by NWGB representative <strong>Simon Mogapi <\/strong>focused on gambling-related crimes and the impact of illegal gambling in the North West province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mogapi described illegal gambling as a serious criminal activity, noting that unlicensed gambling operations can create opportunities for money laundering and organised crime while exposing the public to financial losses and other social harms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also highlighted the lack of consumer safeguards associated with illegal gambling. People using unlicensed gambling operations do not receive the protections that apply to activities conducted by licensed operators under the regulatory framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mogapi referenced previous joint operations and engagements with law enforcement and prosecutorial bodies as part of the NWGB\u2019s ongoing response to illegal gambling in the province.
