As part of the framework, the organisations will exchange research, market intelligence and regulatory developments while engaging on policy issues shaping Kenya\u2019s gaming market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Kenya.- The African iGaming Alliance (AiA) <\/strong>and the Association of Gaming Operators of Kenya (AGOK)<\/strong> have signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate on regulation, responsible gambling and other issues affecting Kenya\u2019s gaming sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement was formalised in Nairobi on August 20 by AiA chief executive officer Peter Emolemo Kesitilwe<\/strong> and AGOK chief executive officer Dr John Mutua<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the framework, the organisations will exchange research, market intelligence and regulatory developments while engaging on policy issues shaping Kenya\u2019s gaming market, including <\/strong>consumer protection, taxation, licensing and compliance, payments, technology, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML\/CFT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two organisations will also work on measures to tackle illegal and unlicensed gambling and improve channelisation<\/strong> towards regulated operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kesitilwe said Kenya\u2019s position as a major African gaming market means developments in the country have implications beyond its borders. He added that the agreement will provide an opportunity for Kenya\u2019s licensed operators to exchange experience with counterparts in other African markets, particularly on regulation, taxation, AML\/CFT<\/strong>, illegal gambling and safer gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the AGOK side, Mutua described the agreement as a step towards closer integration between Kenya\u2019s regulated gaming sector and the wider African market. He said: \u201cThrough this partnership, we will be able to exchange knowledge and research, learn from developments across other African jurisdictions and contribute Kenya\u2019s own experiences to the continental dialogue.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MoU also provides for conferences, workshops, seminars, webinars, stakeholder roundtables, capacity-building programmes, policy papers and research involving operators, regulators and other industry stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AiA and AGOK said the agreement preserves the independence of both organisations, with AiA continuing its Pan-African mandate while AGOK represents licensed gaming operators in Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MoU will run for an initial three years <\/strong>and can be renewed by mutual agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
