In a report delivered to the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Defence, Home Affairs, Security Services and War Veterans Affairs<\/strong> this week, the board painted a troubling picture of a nation struggling to keep pace with the digital transformation of gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe report attributed the rise in illegal online gambling to technological advancements, increased accessibility, and the borderless nature of online activities, which pose regulatory enforcement challenges,\u201d a government source revealed, according to Zimeye.net.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Zimbabwe\u2019s economic climate pushing more citizens towards quick-money ventures and risky wagers, illegal online betting platforms <\/strong>have mushroomed across the digital space. The board admitted it\u2019s vastly under-resourced to keep up with the surge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe board also cited inadequate personnel as a hindrance to closing illegal gambling shops sprouting across the country,\u201d the source added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
