South Africa.- The North West Gambling Board (NWGB) <\/strong>conducted a working visit to Rio Hotel and Casino<\/strong> in Klerksdorp<\/strong> as part of its efforts to strengthen compliance monitoring across the province\u2019s gambling sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held on August 13, the visit formed part of the Board\u2019s \u201cBlitz\u201d initiative, which seeks to increase regulatory visibility and assess how licensed operators meet their legal and regulatory obligations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The engagement gave Board members practical insight into the casino\u2019s licensed operations and how regulatory monitoring requirements are implemented. Discussions also covered the operator\u2019s compliance with standards governing licensed gambling activities.<\/p>\n\n\n

According to Prof. George Malebe<\/strong>, NWGB chairperson, the Blitz initiative is designed to strengthen the Board\u2019s presence across the gambling sector and ensure operators meet their legal and regulatory obligations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acting NWGB CEO Boitumelo Qalinge<\/strong> said he was pleased with the Board\u2019s approach to engaging licensed operators. The regulator said these engagements support its oversight of gambling operations while providing a platform for direct communication with operators on regulatory requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Board said it will continue using operator engagements to promote compliance, uphold the integrity of the gambling sector and protect the public through proactive regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n
