Namibia.- The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS)<\/strong> has hosted a delegation from Namibia\u2019s gambling sector for an information exchange on standards and their application to the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting, held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, brought together representatives from SABS, the Namibia Gambling Board<\/strong> and the Namibia Standards Institution (NSI)<\/strong> to compare approaches to developing and implementing requirements for gambling-related operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussions looked at how standards can provide clear requirements for gambling operators, equipment manufacturers and technology providers. This includes setting expectations for gambling equipment and electronic systems and establishing ways to test whether they operate correctly and meet approved requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session also allowed the institutions to exchange technical knowledge and discuss areas where closer cooperation could strengthen standardisation in the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Namibia\u2019s gambling industry, clear standards can help define the requirements for equipment, electronic systems and other technology used by operators. They can also provide a basis for testing and assessing whether those systems meet the conditions required for use in the market. This is particularly relevant as the state, like other markets on the continent, continues to see changes in the gambling sector, including the expansion of online gambling and greater use of digital technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
