The tournament drove a threefold increase in activity on the company\u2019s Sportsbook platform, demonstrating that major international football events represent peak engagement periods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to preliminary estimates, approximately&nbsp;<strong>$210bn was wagered on the tournament worldwide<\/strong>, around twice the volume recorded during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. SOFTSWISS\u2019 data reflects this activity, showing changes in betting behaviour and player composition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pre-match betting took a larger share of activity than usual during the tournament. Under standard conditions, approximately 80 per cent of activity on the SOFTSWISS Sportsbook comes from&nbsp;<strong>live betting<\/strong>, with pre-match accounting for the remaining 20 per cent. During the World Cup, that ratio shifted significantly, with pre-match turnover accounting for 57 per cent of the total. Pre-match betting generated approximately a 20 per cent higher margin compared to live betting. Conversely, live betting sustained higher average stakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The World Cup also&nbsp;<strong>encouraged more players to try sports wagering<\/strong>. Up to 20 per cent of players who typically engage only with casino products placed their first sports bet during the tournament. This crossover effect extended the event\u2019s commercial value beyond the sportsbook itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The heightened engagement was reflected throughout the tournament\u2019s closing stages. The Spain vs. Argentina final was the highest-volume match of the competition, attracting the largest player count and the highest bet volume of any fixture. Nearly 70 per cent of bets on the game were placed pre-match. The third-place fixture also ranked among the highest-volume matches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As player activity increased,&nbsp;<strong>mobile remained the primary channel<\/strong>, accounting for 85 per cent of bets \u2013 a slight dip from the usual 90 per cent share. The operators who performed best during this tournament had started months earlier by building out their promotional calendars, stress-testing their trading and risk management setups, and aligning their teams before the first ball was kicked.
