The regulator used Bet267’s Walala Wasala Charity Cup to engage the public on responsible gambling, with Assistant Minister of Health Lawrence Ookeditse backing the community initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Botswana.- Botswana’s Gambling Authority has joined Bet267 to promote responsible gambling through the Walala Wasala Charity Cup, using the community football tournament to engage the public on safer gambling practices and encourage informed betting decisions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gambling Authority said it used the Bet267-organised football Charity Cup to engage directly with the public. The Authority said: “During the event, we had the opportunity to engage with attendees and share important messages on responsible gambling, encouraging the public to make informed choices and promote healthy gambling<\/strong> habits.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was attended by Botswana’s assistant minister of health, Lawrence Ookeditse, whose attendance underscored the importance of collaboration between government, regulators and the gaming industry in promoting community well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n

The initiative comes just over a year after Bet267 officially launched in Botswana in April 2025 at a ceremony officiated by the Gambling Authority. At the time, the operator said it aimed to promote responsible and inclusive<\/strong> gambling while creating more than 100 jobs as it expanded its footprint in Botswana’s regulated betting market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tournament also supported charitable causes while bringing together football clubs and supporters from across the region. Orapa United were crowned champions of the Walala Wasala Charity Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regulator thanked Bet267, participating teams, supporters and organisers for contributing to the success of the event, describing the tournament as an opportunity to promote responsible gambling while supporting community development<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n
