Cameroon.- Africa has accounted for 11 of the 76 suspicious betting alerts reported by the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) <\/strong>during the second quarter of 2026, with Cameroon recording the highest number of cases on the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to IBIA\u2019s Q2 Integrity Report<\/strong>, the 11 African alerts represented 15 per cent of all cases flagged between April and June, placing the continent third behind Europe (25 alerts) and South America (17). Cameroon recorded three football alerts, followed by Ghana with two, while Mali, Nigeria, Rwanda and Tunisia each had one. Egypt and Ivory Coast recorded one tennis alert apiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Football generated the highest number of suspicious betting alerts globally with 25, including nine from Africa. Esports followed with 16 alerts, while basketball accounted for 10 and tennis nine. Darts produced five alerts, greyhound racing four, cricket and table tennis three each, and volleyball one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, IBIA reported a 10.1 per cent year-on-year increase in suspicious betting alerts, up from 69 in the second quarter of 2025. The total also exceeded the 70 alerts recorded in the first quarter of 2026. The association noted that the figures could change as ongoing investigations are concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report also highlighted 16 alerts classified as global, meaning they could not be linked to a specific country or continent because the suspected activity involved transnational events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IBIA said its monitoring network covers more than 1.5 million sporting events each year across more than 80 sports. The association analyses betting activity worth over US$300bn annually through a membership of more than 90 companies operating more than 200 betting brands.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t
