Angola.- Angola’s Gaming Supervision Institute (ISJ) has introduced comprehensive new rules<\/strong> for social gaming intermediaries, banning street-based betting sales, requiring intermediaries to operate only from authorised fixed premises<\/strong> and strengthening safeguards to prevent minors from accessing gaming establishments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operators have until December 14, 2026, to comply with the new requirements, which also include a minimum distance of 1,000 metres <\/strong>from educational institutions, hospitals and institutions representing organs of sovereignty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The measures were presented during a meeting between the ISJ and gaming operators on July 16, where the regulator outlined its Plan for the Regularisation of the Activity of Social Gaming Mediators. The regularisation plan will be implemented in phases as part of a broader drive to strengthen legality, responsibility and transparency<\/strong> across Angola’s gaming sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regulator said: “Measures aimed at putting an end to the street vending of bets<\/strong> were reinforced, determining that the activity of mediators is carried out exclusively in fixed establishments, duly identified and authorised, as well as compliance with the legal rules regarding advertising and the exercise of the activity, including the observance of the minimum distance of 1,000 metres from educational establishments, hospital units and other institutions representing the organs of sovereignty.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strengthening sector integrity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The ISJ said the reforms also seek to strengthen the integrity of the sector by reinforcing protections for vulnerable groups, particularly minors, and ensuring compliance<\/strong> with Angola’s gaming laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regulator said: “During the meeting, structuring matters for strengthening the integrity of the sector were discussed, with special emphasis on the protection <\/strong>of the most vulnerable classes, in particular minors, and the obligation to prevent their access to gaming establishments was reiterated, in compliance with the Angolan Law on Gaming Activity.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the ISJ, the regulator will continue monitoring implementation<\/strong> of the new measures and provide institutional support throughout the transition period, with operators expected to comply by December 14.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t
